Yesterday I went to the premiere of “La tentation de Potosi” (The temptation of Potosi, only in one cinema in Paris for the moment). Interesting idea from the French documentary maker Philippe Crnogorac who had already made a film about Bolivia ten years ago. He heard about popular stories where Bolivian miners pact with the devil to get rich. Especially one called Manuel Morales, who disappeared after breaking the pact. Continue reading

A foregone conclusion in Bolivia

Bolivia Referendum

After Uruguay and Honduras last week and before Chile next week, Bolivia elected its president on Sunday. But unlike the others there was no suspense in Bolivia. There will be no second round as Evo Morales got more than 60% of the votes, the first estimations say. The opposition was divided between two conservatives, Manfred Reyes Villa (more than 20%) and Samuel Doria Medina (less than 10%). Continue reading

In last April in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, police declared they killed three people in a hotel, after they were attacked. They said it was an anti-terrorist operation and the three men were part of a plot to assassinate President Evo Morales.
