The gold of the Incas deserved better

"L'or des Incas"

… Much better than the “Pinacothèque”, in Paris. From September 10 to February 6, the Paris museum offers a collection of nearly 300 pieces – pottery, jewelry, fabrics … – from 3000 years of history. This is one of the first shortcuts of the exhibition, which announces “the gold of the Incas”, while the Incas only cover a very small minority of the collection.

But this is not the most important. We can obviously appreciate the effort of the exhibition to share the knowledge of civilizations that preceded the Incas (Mochica, Huari, Sipan …)

The forbidden wedding of Guzman and Iparraguirre

They used to fight for the revolution… Now they fight for their wedding! Abimael Guzman and Elena Iparraguirre could begin a hunger-strike because the Peruvian authorities refuse them to marry. They were two of the most searches revolutionaries in the world before they were arrested together in 1992. Abimael Guzman founded the Shining Path that terrorized Peru during three decades.

I watched two great movies by chance this weekend. This kind of movies that make you understand many things. The first one is “Days of Santiago”, by the Peruvian movie director Josué Mendez. It is the story of Santiago, a young man that just went out from the Army. During a few years, he fought against drug traffickers, guerrillas and even served in a conflict. When he comes back in the civil life, he has lost all his landmarks and falls into paranoia, fighting against imaginary enemies.

International trends have something unpredictable. but sometimes they are very rational. Look at the cooking fashion. a few years ago, Chinese food arrived all around the world with Chinese migrants and the active part China took in the globalization. Then Japanese restaurants opened in New York, London, Sao Paulo, Paris and Dubai as everybody in the world was interested by healthy food and fresh products. This trend has not finished but people are always searching for something else.

Peru discovered a sordid story. Police arrested four people suspected of 60 people in order to sell their fat. The organized gang allegedly kidnapped people on roads after they promised them a job, then used to kill them and extract their fat.

What happens right now in South America ? It seems that all the continent has been taken by a wave of spy stories. First of all, Venezuela had accused Colombia from having sent some spied in their territory. Several people have been arrested and the case almost led both countries to a conflict as Chavez mobilized his army to the border.

The case is engulfing South America. The conflict pits Argentina against Peru, Colombia and Uruguay. The reason of this state affair ? The qualification for the World Cup. I sum up : one of the biggest nations of the football world, Argentina, is in danger.
