In a few weeks, the Arizona police forces could arrest dozens of Latinos without any reason. How? There is no legal abuse. They even have a law to explain this. The State of Arizona adopted a law that allow the police to arrest every migrant (the Hispanics are the most targeted) who cannot show his migration document.

The law is worrying enough to bring the Mexican government to publish a warning for their tourists who could go to Arizona. If you forget your passport, see you in jail. You will be answered a few questions…

The trauma has spread beyond the Hispanic community. Some Americans, like Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, asked for a boycott of Arizona products. Even Barack Obama mocked the law. And in a very unusual situation, American sportsmen intervened politically. The local basketball team the Phoenix Suns called themselves “Los Suns” in one of their playoff games in order “to honor the Hispanic community and the diversity of our league, Arizona and the United States.”

Deep doubts remain about the application of the law. Especially because in Arizona more than one in four residents is Hispanic. And a long legal battle could begin…
